well i bought sc2 yesterday and i'd say its worth buying, but i do have a few complaints.
One: i think its a little too easy, ive only had the game for around 30 houres and i already got the campain beat in easy and im half way on normal
Two: i think its been too dumbed down, its like they made this one for new plaiers
Three: theres not enough unites in this one, i mean theres not even half as many as the first sc

New game is great fun and has some cool new features, but why did they eliminate save feature on Skirmish games?! That was a huge change! Why is the old FatBoy more desirable than the new one?! The instant replay of last game feature is cool! Cant wait till some of you programmers out there make some new mods for this SC2! I greatly appreciate the ones that have been posted for SC1! -frag

hey forget some thinks to say 2 vs computer like go up en online game crach en heel no skirmich they eliminate save noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
As far as I am concerned Supreme Commander 2 is less of everythhing.
You get smaller maps, fewer units, dumbed down economy, moronic AI etc. etc.
The game runs smoother, but they had to destroy everything that made the original great.
You will not feel the sense of accomplishment that Supcom/FA is able to give you.
Experimental super units are used as regular cannon fodder. In FA you felt awe when a hostile monkeylord crawled out of the sea. No more. You can produce experimentals at a rapid pace and they are nothing special anymore and easily destroyed.
You will never again have real sea battles in SupCom 2. The maps are far to small and there are no true sea maps at all! One of the factions does not even have ships. I know almost all their units hoover, but this can not replace the feeling of having true versatile fleets. There are only a few ships that can do it all. In SupCom/FA you had to think. You needed to create beautiful fleets that contained destroyers, cruisers, subs, battleships and even carriers. In Supcom 2 Carriers and cruisers are removed. You no longer have strategic subs etc.
Building a tech 3 artillery piece really means something in SUpcom/FA. It is a real investment and you will have to protect it. And it is an awesome devastating weapon. When the enemy succeeded in taking it out it was a real blow,
But in SupCom 2 you can easily spam artillery. If the enemy destroys one, you simply build 5 more in few minutes. It has become totally meaningless. And the AI is totally unable to defend against it. You can win every battle without ever sending a tank to the AI's base.
Every map resembles a small platform map. Gone are the awesome huge realistic landscapes from SupCom/FA. You will never wage war on huge battlefields again. Remember that this was one of the main features that set Supcom/FA apart from the other mediocre RTS games.
To kill even more base building fun the adjacency bonuses were removed too.
Energy had a real tactical/strategical implementation in Supcom/FA. You needed it to keep your shields and radar up. Because of this energy gens became realistic, true to life targets. Every Supcom player has felt the satisfaction wehen he destroyed powergens and he saw enemy shields come down. It was great.
In stead of building of this and making it more interesting GPG decided to completely remove this realistic feature from the game. There is no longer any realistic connection between your powergens and your base.
Almost every form of economy upgrade has been removed too, making the game even more shallow and uninteresting.
And do not even bother with the single player campaign. It is awful.
Compared to Supcom/FA Supcom 2 is a shallow, empty game that will appeal to those who like quick little simplistic 20 minute battles.
There is much more I could say about this horrible, disapointing game that betrays the legacy of Total Annihilation and Supcom/FA, but I leave it at this. It was a waste of my money and I returned to playing FA after only a few weeks.

Okay, that's more like it! i''ve received a couple of STEAM updates for SC2 that make the game better. Thank you! Some better AI's, that are impressive, but not along the order of sneaky *****. Some larger maps would be nice and maybe one medium sized one in with a couple of hard to attack fortresses placed right beside each other.
Please, I beg for the return of Skirmish save! Please!
I can safely say that this is a game I'd promote to a friend. Thanks from an old Total Annihilation player! -Frag

Thanks for adding the skirmish save feature! It makes the game so much more complete! I can start a game, come back to it later and save favorite scenarios for replay. Thanks again! -frag
This game was a great example of a great series destroyed by a change in or addition of another producer.
Experimentals are spam material, maps are tiny, annoying upgrade system, overly simplistic and extremely limited economy, ect. The list of missing features is very long.
The only features I liked about SC2 was the more advanced unit grouping and movement and the add-ons for buildings.
Despite its age, Star Craft has a better expierience than this does. This game is an insult to the SC series and should be burned.

Take a look around in online Windows forums, particularly x86 related topics. Whilst Supreme Commander IS a righteous RTS, the code is garbage. SupCom is highly unstable in the TRUE 64 bit environment, in part to the code, and the other to Windows virtual memory limit of 4 gig. You can use the 3 gig switch or Windows BTC application, but this lends to making the system itself less than reliable. In the attempt to address these issues, and others, Taylor and crew probably figured on simplified codex, and focused on a more graphically advanced game. Knowing the online cult following would soon adapt to the newer script and make their own mods to suit the game and themselves, simplifing the game made sense. Yes, the A.I. sucks. Yes, unit count is down. Yes, the fat boy needs a twinky or two to achieve its former glory. These things will come....... Just look at Total Annihilation and what it has become. When it FIRST hit shelves, few even knew.
In closing, in the start, SupCom 2 is not worth it. Give the online community another year with this great foundation, and then we'll all have a game that is worth playing for the next decade. It has more potential than SupCom, and more importantly, it's more stable in the 64 bit O.S..

is there any mods being developed for this??? i might actually start playig it again, right now its just too easy. I mean my 6 year old son plaies it and has no problem winning
Compared to SC1 and SC:FA , SC2 doesn't serve as a valiant successor to one of the most addictive RTS games.
THE UPs : 1) GPG managed to reduce the game time spent creating an army
2)The graphics have certainly improved
THE DOWNS : 1)The game play and AI is S**King easy, in 2 wks the campaign is completed on HARD difficullty and i can destroy 3 ACUs in 30 min flat (Hard AI)
I hope that the exiting features such as the MODs will return in (if any) SC3

Yes there is, you can find some on moddb and others on GPG's own forum, I'm trying to submit my own, but it wont let me put Supreme commander 2 as the game, so i think thats why im having difficulty getting it authorised

This game is great, especially love the graphics,FULLY PATCHED GAME TO THIS DATE has everything fixed and cool except for two things.
1.Maps still too small
2.UEF 'Universal Assault Bot" is WAYYYYYY to weak for an experimental,I can bring that thing down in 40 seconds with no expirementals, please tough this unit up (more damage and way more health)
Overall this game is great with next gen graphics,Decieving storyline, and Fairly smart AI
